QVC rocks

So, as an update to my earlier QVC entries, I was contacted by QVC tech support today.  Apparently the president, Mike George, or at least someone in his office, was alerted to my problem, and Eileen in customer care contacted me.  She set up a conference call with Johnathon and Christy (hope I’m getting their names right) and the problem was resolved in about an hour.

After about 20 minutes of troubleshooting, we’d narrowed it down to a configuration issue with their BGP routing tables.  At least, that’s what I *think* it was narrowed to.  Whether this was an accidental misconfiguration, or perhaps our IP block was intentionally blocked as spam, I can’t say.  I think it was more likely a misconfiguration, because we weren’t blocked from everything, just certain IP ranges.  These just happened to include their ns1, ns2 and ns3 name servers, along with qvc.com, iqdou.com and others.

All in all, once I got the attention of someone, it was very smooth.  I still do wish there was an easier way of contacting someone who can understand tech issues.  At the same time, I bet 99% of their problems are “reboot your PC and it works”, so I understand their reluctance to be more open.

Thank you to QVC staff for being as quick as you were about the whole thing!

Well, I am having the same problem. I contacted the president’s office and was connected to someone who said they would look into and get back to me. This was yesterday. I’m hoping this will be resolved soon. Is there anything I can do on my end? I’ve tried everything. I know it’s not on my end. Thanks, Penny

  2. I pinged the qvc account on twitter to to raise the alarm a bit. It took several days to get a response from someone, so hold in there and good luck.

Can you just imagine how many customers QVC has lost due to web processing faults? My access became blocked about a week ago. Only parts of the site located at https://quality-s.qvc.com stopped working – of course including customer service pages. We have 4 computers in the house, so since all of them had the problem, I assumed it was the router or the cable modem. We took the router out of the picture without success since we couldn’t force RoadRunner to give us a new IP. Then my son decided to clone a PC MAC address into the router and voila! we have a new IP from RR. This now works, so obviously QVC has runaway IP blocking to their own detriment.
