A new module for Magento was put out in to early release today. The module provides “made to order” functionality for ecommerce shops which need to provide custom ordering capabilities for ‘just in time’ manufacturing. From the module author:
The MTO module allows users to enter in specific dimensions in for any product and that information is saved to the line item in the order. Highlighted features include:
-
Ranged dimensions
-
Fractional inch support (1/4, 1/8, 1/16, etc.)
-
Height, width and depth
Check it out, test it out if you can, and please provide some feedback.
Does it support metric measurements?
I’m working on metric support. Leave feedback or more questions at the magento for manufacturers group.

How do I have to make the attribute for a Made To Order module product. I have done the instructions that appear in this page http://biz.metrofindings.com/main.page/Made_to_Order_MTO_Magento_Module but it doesn’t work.
Hi Michael, thanks for your contribution to the Magento platform!
I was wondering if you might have an idea as to the modifications that would need to be made to MTO in order to support custom cases of mixed products. We’re happy to do mixed cases for customers, but we need to make sure they’re buying cases.
I’m new to the the Magento code base and am grappling with the best method to solve our problem.
Thanks in advance, John
Hi John:
I’m not the author – it’s my brother Mark who wrote that. There’s basic information at this page, and I’m sure you can ask him a question there, or send him a PM there as well.
Good luck!
