Movies I’ve cried at
November 1, 2007
Some of you who know me know that I can cry at the drop of a hat if the appropriate music is playing. I’d mentioned it to colleagues before, but I’m not sure they believed it until I went to a movie with one of them and he saw me welling up. This was the Simpsons movie we’re talking about. So, I figured I’d post a list of recent movies I’ve cried along to.
Talledega Nights (Ballad of Ricky Bobby)
Stranger than Fiction
Blades of Glory
The Simpsons Movie
Deja Vu (Denzel Washington movie)
John Q (another Denzel heart-tugger)
Every third or fourth EastEnders (TV)
Every other Coronation Street (TV)
Bridge To Tarabithia (who didn’t?!)
Firehouse Dog (who didn’t?)
Air Buddies (with the voice of Don Knotts!)
Over the Hedge
The War (PBS documentary series)
Ratatouille (didn’t see the whole thing yet)
Cars
People vs John Lennon ( I think that was the name )
I do not cry at EVERYTHING though. I don’t think I cried at all during Fractured (with Anthony Hopkins).
So, what movies do you cry at? Go on, reply anonymously if you must!

I will publicly admit the movie I balled my living eyes out to was “Legends of the Fall”. I cried most of the way through the end part, out to the parking lot, in the car, and then to the bar. It hit too close to home.
As a matter of fact, my brother-in-law had never cried at his Brother’s or Father’s funerals. He watched Legends of the Fall on DVD at home with my sister and literally fell apart about halfway through the movie. Started crying, couldn’t stop, nose started bleeding and had to go to the hospital. I t is a tough one.

Holy cow! I don’t think I’ve ever cried so hard my nose bled. That’s a new one for me.

For some reason, books tend to make me cry much more readily than movies. I always cry when I read “The Velveteen Rabbit” to my kids. Charlotte’s Web always gets me choked up too. Even the Harry Potter books did it to me at certain points.
But I will confess, the song “When Somebody Loved Me” in Toy Story 2 makes me fall apart every fricking time.
Then there are the obvious ones; anyone who doesn’t cry at “Shindler’s List” ought to have their head examined.
Crying is good for you - just google “crying health benefits”.
Was “John Q” any good BTW? I remember wanting to see it.

Can’t say that actual tears ever appeared, but there are a few that would qualify:
“A Beautiful Mind”
“The Hurricane”
“Phenomenon”
“The Pursuit of Happiness”
These films depict human triumph and tragedy, and have special significance to me.

))) I also cry at many movies, even there seems to be no reason. I remember crying at Shrek for touching song.
