Enterprise Twitter?

Date January 16, 2008

Are there Twitterclones that can be used internally on your own private network?  Either free or hosted services?  It’s probably not a new idea to many of you, but it struck me recently that Twitter-style messaging would be a handy addition to in-company communications.

Do such services or packages exist already?  If not, anyone know of anything on the horizon?

That sounds a lot like a Lotus Notes application candidate if they don’t already have it - given that Lotus Notes also supports enterprise instant messaging. I’ve been reading up on Notes, since the company that bought us has apparently drunk the IBM Kool-Aid. :-(

Hadn’t thought about the management aspect so much, but that’s certainly another angle to consider!

I think some serious advances are needed, as per http://www.texttechnologies.com/2008/02/11/enterprise-twitter/ .
When they’re made, Enterprise Twitter will be a Very Good Thing.
