I’ve been reading “The Singularity Is Near” by Kurzweil. Quite a hefty book! Those of you who’ve read it can probably tell by my title here that I’m only about 20% through the book! Anyway, the idea of ‘reversible computing‘ is pretty intriguing. The core idea, as I got from the book, is that energy [...]

$2 bills
November 7, 2006
I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who’s trying to bring back the $2 bill.

ConvergeSouth 2006 recap part 1
October 15, 2006
About all I can *really* say is ‘wow!’. But to expand on that just a little, I’ll try to draft up a bit more of my experiences and some of the inspiring/interesting people I met.
The conference as a whole was great, but just a little short in my mind - I think we could [...]
Damn you Target (aka my new love!)
August 31, 2006
These “Cinammon Redgolds” are now officially my latest snack love. I’m regressing, after doing so well this week (fresh fruit, home-made hot lunches, reasonable dinners, etc.). Argh!!!
Women can’t teach men in a baptist church
August 22, 2006
"US preacher defends belief women can’t teach men"
Not even sure what to say about this - I was raised baptist, and this just confirms my belief in the stereotype of the narrow-minded religious fundamentalist. Yes, not everyone is like this, but the thinking is going to be prevalent enough that this guy isn’t going to [...]

Converge South
August 17, 2006
It looks like I’ll be attending the ConvergeSouth conference this year. Some big names (”scoble” arguably being the biggest) will be there, and while it’s mostly just a one-day thing, I think it’ll be good to meet some new people in the area. Greensboro isn’t quite ‘my area’, but hey, it’s close enough! If anyone [...]
acapella karaoke
August 4, 2006
I’ve had this idea for awhile on “acapella karaoke”. Basically, it would just be standalone singing with no music behind you - possibly with a screen with the words and a bouncing ball. People here at work claim that it’s not possible, that it’s a contradiction in terms. What do you think?
“I saw the sign…”
July 19, 2006
Ouch! My car was hit by a falling (pushed?!) street sign…
Minimal damage, but we don’t know who the sign belongs to. It was originally though that the landlord’s property insurance would cover this, but then it morphed in to being a Progress Energy issue. The police that took the report said we’d probably not have [...]
