Aptana and jQuery

Date April 24, 2008

Nathan from onWired (a local web company) gave a presentation on jQuery, which has repiqued my interest in it. The docs were always a shortcoming, but Aptana has had scriptdoc support for jQuery for awhile now. I think if I need to do more AJAXy stuff, I’ll try jQuery for my next project. If it’s too hard, I’ll go back to YUI. :)

Here’s a screenshot of Aptana’s code assist feature for jQuery…

jQuery is what has saved javascript for me. Thanks for the information on aptana… is it in stealth mode? aptana.com gives me a 403.

No, it’s been out for a couple years. That’s weird. http://www.aptana.com works for me.

Trust me, Michael, it’s not too hard! In fact, comparing apples to apples, I’d contend that it’s easier to write Ajax calls with jQuery than with any other framework.

It wasn’t till I got my first jQuery book (_Learning jQuery_) that it really clicked for me, but from then it was a cinch. You can even use jQuery commands on the returned data! It’s marvelous.

Thanks for coming out last night…

    Cheers,
    Nathan
